Dr. Chris Bramlett

Dr. Bramlett has lived a remarkable life.  His early aspirations of becoming a Baptist minister gave way to a career centered on chemistry about a year after enrolling in Wake Forest College.  During the first seven years of his marriage either he or his wife, Patricia Starnes Bramlett, were in school full time.  In the end he had a Ph.D. in chemistry, and she had a master’s degree in special education, both from the University of Virginia.

After completing his education, Dr. Bramlett had two distinct careers.  First, he was a professor of Chemistry and administrator at two universities, The University of Alabama and East Tennessee State University.  At the latter he was Vice President for Academic Affairs.  When he became Vice President at East Tennessee State University he was only 38 years old.

After his successful career in education, the Bramlett family moved to Albemarle where he joined Gene Starnes in business at Starnes Jewelry Store.  From 1989 to 2004, Dr. Bramlett operated his own jewelry store, Christopher’s, in downtown Concord.  Patricia retired from her position of Director of Programs for Exceptional Children in the Stanly County Schools in 1998 and joined her husband in operating Christopher’s.  In 2004, the Bramletts decided to close the business. From 2004 until 2022, Dr. Bramlett worked at Starnes Jewelers in Albemarle.

In 2022, Dr. Bramlett decided to create a new jewelry store, Starnes Bramlett Jewelers, and another chapter begins…
